Title: Network Administrator
Department: Information Technology (IT)

Report To: Director, IT

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Basic network/systems/security hardware, software, and policies management and administration.
  • Basic administration of servers, virtual environment, SAN/NAS, and backup systems.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and hardware performance.
  • Maintains and deploys physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers, including operating system installations, configurations, and security patches.
  • Monitor the firewall portal for unauthorized access and unusual activity.
  • Application and infrastructure monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and escalation.
  • Updates IT documentation of servers and network infrastructure.
  • Provides basic support of the networking infrastructure including ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems.
  • Perform hardware, software, and network equipment installations.
  • Perform desktop and network performance monitoring to address latency issues, conflicts, or other performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, ensuring all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved promptly with limited disruptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
  • Must have a strong hands-on/technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows technologies such as Exchange Server, Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, and RDP.
  • Must have a basic understanding of Linux technologies such as Proxmox, Grafana, UFW, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of core network technologies such as OSI, LAN/WAN, subnets, firewalls, VPNs, SSL, HTTP/S, FTP, routers/switches, and wireless.
  • Must have a working knowledge of other IT infrastructure technologies like storage area networks (SAN), virtualization, fiber optics, and VoIP.
  • Must have a good understanding of user environment management, including desktops/laptops, profile management, software delivery, windows updates, anti-virus, imaging, etc.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, taking appropriate actions in the accomplishment of duties and projects.
